What is bending?

Bending is a cold forming process that allows metal sheets to be shaped to predetermined angles and geometries. It takes place through the action of a bending press that, with the aid of a punch and die, applies a controlled force to the material until the desired shape is achieved.

Bending enables the manufacture of complex components with high repeatability and dimensional accuracy, even in automated or high-volume production. It is a versatile technology, used across many industries.

Automated bending integrates the traditional bending process into highly efficient robotic cells, which combine sheet metal handling, control, and forming in a single production line. The material is processed through CNC press brakes, operated by robotic systems that ensure consistent accuracy, speed and repeatability, even on complex cycles.

Within the LEAS ecosystem, bending can be integrated with welding, assembly, quality control and traceability, in a smooth and fully interconnected production logic.
