The key concepts and enabling technologies of the fifth industrial revolution.
Recently we have been the pleasure of meeting Armando Martin, scientific journalist, author of the book "Industry 5.0" and expert in industrial technologies. It has been an interesting opportunity to share the key concepts of Industry 5.0 from which different ideas for the development of new work systems and industrial automation solutions were born.
"The concepts that are at the base of this new industrial revolution and that we find in the book" explains Martin, "start, from the economic crisis that came to take shape at the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century that led to rethinking the economic paradigm that was emerging, that means an economy where the production of material goods was delocalized and fragmented according to economic convenience."
"A strategy" continues Martin, "that was not sustainable in the long term, as without manufacturing the demand for services and therefore also the weight of the tertiary sector on the economy also drops, the same strategy that has oriented the most industrialized countries to the political-technological turning point of Industry 4.0, based on digitization and interconnection of production processes."
Where does the need to evolve towards the fifth industrial revolution arise?
"This transformation," Martin continues, "has influenced not only the industrial world but also society and human relations. The spread of digitalization and intelligent machines redefines the intervention of man in production processes and the recognition of his value in the determination of quality and product customization.
Industry 5.0 focuses on the return of the human hands and minds in the industrial context and on the reconciliation between man and machines that find a way to work together to improve the means and efficiency of production."
